He's right, light rollers didn't help, weights didn't either!

Pisses me off as I feel pretty good aside from the pain and stiffness, this has happened before I'm sure. Must not forget protein shake. ever.
  1.
Probably dehydration - especially considering the heat at the Imbibe Bar (plus the unusual amount of crouching).

Also, there's been a distinct meteorological shift this week, and I find my body always complains a bit during those transitions.
  2.
And get some (sea) salt down you, or Nuun or whatever if you want to be scientific.

Of course, thanks for the reminder, I have some on hand.

The benefit of hindsight is wonderful, but I must stop being a twat and forgetting the nutrition after training.

I'll be surfing in Morocco from Monday for the rest of Jan and will be back online on 2nd Feb and in clinic on 4th Feb. Appointments are booking up due to a high volume of RLPZ - might start doing social / clinic evenings soon.

I'll always find time for my Rolla family!

Have a couple of free slots early Thursday morning if anyone needs an urgent assessment.

The waiting area is getting busier than a Rolla social!

Have you thought of asking Winspar if they will let you borrow one of their rigs for your waiting area?

That's not a bad idea - might also create more business for me through re-injury and over-exertion ;-)

No problems - basically a lot of people over the age of 23 will have disc bulges etc on MRIs but will have no symptoms.

Good Luck, let me know how you get on and of any recommendations.

    Greetings all,

Apologies but just a quick plug for bike-fittings that I undertake in our Kentish Town Clinic. Sessions are one hour long and consist of the following:

Assessment of lower limb and lumbar flexibility
Review of current riding position (bike will be supported on a Turbo Trainer)
Discussion of suitable alterations and recommendations
Alteration of bike in agreement with you to optimise biomechanics (tailored to any anatomial variances you may have)
    Recommendation for future changes

The sessions are by prior arrangement only and cost £80.

Any questions please feel free to ask.

    Regards,

    Michael.

Cheeky bump of my thread here. Apologies.

Just thought I'd let my Rollapaluza family know that other cyclists and clubs are now starting to book into the clinic and I'm filling fast so get in early if you seen pre-season niggles tending to.

    Michael.

Came back from seeing spinal specialist today. Need MRI scan, but he reckons 6 weeks of core work and physio will see me back on the bike. Very pleased.

Slightly scared of getting back on the bike though, any fitness I had has long gone...

    OK.

Just come back from the follow up with the surgeon at the hospital.

MRI shows a normal healthy back with no issues with discs, nerves etc, which is very good news.

He suspects some kind of muscular issue, although its not quite clear what this might be as I'm still in discomfort when sitting in particular. Bit worried about jumping back on the bike just in case I make things worse.

bluerip: Where are you based? If I can't get rid of this knee/calf issue soon I might actually seek some advice on the matter. Of course being a stubborn idiot, I'm just as likely to let it get far worse before having a word but if you're still doing Rolla consultations and you're in London.. well.. it can't hurt can it?

    Hi Hippy,

I'd suggest getting advice before you're unable to ride.

My private clinic is based inside LA Fitness in Kentish Town and I work on Thursdays from 3 - 9pm. I have some slots available this week if you're feeling pro-active. Easiest thing is to call our administrator on 0207 482 3875.

    Michael.

It's really odd. I did a very easy road ride yesterday and the pain was quite bad. I did a moderate turbo session today (started easy, don't worry) and the pain was almost unnoticeable.
I'm HOPING this is down to the stretch Scherrit suggested to me. The pain is definitely still there when off the bike but less noticeable than Sunday. I'll see how it goes commuting and maybe try you out Michael.

    Thanks.

My left leg is getting better so I'm not ready to book just now. I've just smashed my right toe into a paver though so now it's all fuxored.. not much you can do with that though.
I'm going to keep taking it easy and doing this stretch. If it's not fixed next week I'll book ya.

    Hi fred,

Our clinics are recognised by all major insurers (BUPA, AXA PPP, Norwich Union, Pru etc.)

Check with your provider first - you may need a referral from your GP, your insurer will then authorise a treatment programme. All we need is your member and authorisation codes and we'll take care of the rest.

    Michael

I had a very nice first session with Michael yesterday, very informative honest and helpful, he pushed pulled twisted and observed, nothing for me to worry about my knees and especially hamstrings are good, i just need to stretch properly, primarily my calves and ITB on a regular basis...
Thanks for taking the time to explain the stretches, purpose and how to, was very helpful Michael much appreciated.

Well we had to stick two boots in really, 2 years on continentals 1 sidewall blowout, 3 months on Vittorias 1 sidewall blowout, hmmmm stick with Vittoria again or go back to conti, in truth looking at the cut nothing would of survived what ever I rolled over, you can see it started in the middle of the green belt and slid across the PRB protection band untill it got to the more delicate sidewall, I will stick with Vittoria for another set of tyres and see. Either way my legs felt great and I am getting the stretching into my routine tomorrow.

    Open Pave sidewall blowout

Max is pictured as he helped me puncture another tube as I was replacing this tyre, little darling...

I didn't think the green belt existed anymore.

I'll take this opportunity to plug my favourite do-it-all tyre, which I'm sticking with for good after dalliances with Contis, Vittorias, & Michelins. It shares the best qualities of all the afore-mentioned, without having any of their negatives:

    I <3 these tyres.

^timely answer to my question for Hippy on another thread somewhere.

Now that I've found a bargain frame on fleabay :-) I'll add them to my Cyclescheme bits&pieces shopping list, which currently looks like this:

-Campag Centaur 10 or Athena 11 groupset (can't decide which, both around £600)
-new helmet (not thought about it yet, but tried a Bell Array recently in LBS and felt good)
-new pedals (could stick with Keo, but tempted to try Speedplay zero)
    -SLR saddle
-VF tyres and lots of tubes (stock up on the discount, get me)
    -a set of Koolstop pads

    What else?

And so continues my mission to single-handedly spend this country out of recession...
