Been cycling as long as I can remember mainly MTBing when I was younger but then got more into road stuff after living in Holland and then getting a job as a courier up in Scotland. Last year I did a few sportives, mtb races and finally took my track bike on a track! This year I'm doing some more sportives and going to do more on the track and also try some road racing. Also a member of Dulwich Paragon so Rollapaluza will be my second claim club.
Hi guys Niamh here, (sem on lfgss) I'm a lazy student / keen cyclist....
just ride a road bike for the moment, have a done a few long rides, love cycling, trying out track and racing for the first time this year............... and obviously I have developed a newfound passion for Rollapaluza :P
looking forward to meeting / cycling with y'allll.
I'm Nancy, my steed's Pinky (Old Fixie) we're into Rural or Urban Jaunts and Hill hunting, I'm training for the Fire Flys ride this summer in the Alps. For that I'll be riding my Condor road Classico, only comes out on special occasions and when the lazy leavers are required. My aspirations are to become Queen of the hills and the Rolla. haha, saying that I'm bit of a Johny-Come-Lately really.
When I'm not cycling you can find me in Soho working as a Hairstylist, so if you wanna have a fabulous haircut and talk bike get in touch......
I also need a haircut - although I'm supposed to be growing it. Coming along tonight (watching only - too terrifed to ride!) so would be good to say ello and put names to faces.
Welcome Niamh and Nancy. Glad we have an official club hair stylist at last. Fills a much needed gap around here. I need a cut. Can you make me look like .... (insert celeb name here prompting suicidal groan from stylist)?
Yes lovely people come in for a trim, restyle, colour, mens and ladies. Or I can Make you look like your favourite celebrity cyclist, no groaning I promise!
I'm at Nightingales, 2 Lexington St or look out for Pinky outside the shop! 02077345533.
Andy, lush pic, what year is that from? I'm going to get some goggles like that. And the hair to go with them. Are you well stocked up on peroxide, Pinky?
When I googled Cipollini+perm (as you do) I came across this cracking PCN article from 2005: Continuing UCI Reforms
Yesterday afternoon in Aigle, the UCI met to discuss the matter of hair length in professional cycling. The meeting centered on one serial "offender", Franco Pellizotti of Liquigas-Bianchi. Despite gentle coaxing from cycling's governing body for him to cut the offending locks, the Italian has been noncompliant, provoking some concern.
While scientist Markus Frach argued that more hair is more beneficial for crashes as it should act to cushion the blow, 'neutral' helmet manufacturers Krimax were quick to point out that such a mass put a strain on the effectiveness of helmets, instantly compromising safety. Furthermore, it was decided that - on mountain finishes when Pellizotti is permitted to remove a helmet - his perm gives him no advantage, though it was strongly suggested that any rider drafting behind him receives less air resistance.
It was also considered that Pellizotti's blonde barnett aided him aerodynamically, though a look at the Italian's time-trial results quickly dispelled this notion, or rather ensured it could be neither proven or disproven. Meanwhile the man in question, Pellizotti, declined to comment.
The Union Cycliste International are meeting next week to cut down on other offenders, this time looking at the cases of Laurent "Lolo" Brochard and Vladimir Karpets, both offenders who have been causing the UCI some grief about the matter in recent years. It is hoped that they will be brought into line.
In a related item, Gerolsteiner's Team Manager Hans-Michael Holczer today announced the team's new hair policy, saying, "I'm tired of this Bad Hairdo competition! The guys are spending a lot more time and attention to their hair than to their training. That's not acceptable! Even Davide Rebellin has has little hairy spikes all over his head - Davide! I would never have believed it of him!"
Holczer proclaimed that as of immediately, all riders would have to get a crewcut. "That's what I wear myself," he said. "It's practical, easy to care for and cool in the summer." He dismissed as "ridiculous" rumors that he was just jealous of the riders' cool 'do's.

Hi all, Been riding bikes in anger for years, mostly track bikes and mostly for really short periods of time (hint a kilo is really too far for me). Ride almost any type of bike for fun- tandem, mtb, road, road fixie.
Have had actual jobs in the past, including, but not limited to looking after rich people's money, forensic analysis and truck driving, sales, lab analysis, sales rep and R&D bod. Now fix bikes and fit/position riders as well as coach riders for a living.
Hoping to ride a few sprints this season, as well as riding team sprints.
welcome Scherrit. been scratching my head trying to figure out where I know your name from, now I remember - heard you on the Bike Show a few weeks ago, talking about bike fit (I assume it's the same Scherrit, AKA the bike whisperer?). That was a very good listen, lots of great info.
Aye, it were me. We are so busy I've not had a lot of training time, tho'..... Can't complain, of course! Looking fwd to meeting you all, I know a few via lfgss and track meets.
Looking to get involved in some events/rides in and around London. So far I've just done the one ride organised through lfgss. Started cycling again 3-4 years ago, mainly club rides, time trials, sportives etc. I'm signed up for the marmotte and the dragon ride this year, so will be building up the miles (and the hills). I'd also like to try and have a go on the track this year. I ride a fixed/singlespeed and a road bike.
yes, I'm feeling very undertrained at the moment because of the last winter, but my primary aim is just to finish the marmotte, which I understand is an achievement in itself..
Finishing is indeed an achievement in itself. I've started it twice but only finished the second time. The weather (snow above 2000 metres) defeated me the first time.
You've a good three months of training left so that should be enough to get you into good enough shape to finish.
Hi, I ride a road bike and a fixie. I've also got a retro mtb, but that's just for looking at... I've just moved back to London from Australia, so I'm after a new ride!
hello. i'm damo. i migrated from the "other place", blame clive. i'm looking to start cycling further and maybe learn how to climb a hill without crying.
^yes, see other thread. feel free to pitch in with venue ideas.
@winston, my friend Andrey P. joined recently, but I think he's still awaiting his log-on and asked me to see if I could give you a gentle reminder. cheers!
